I too have not seen these bugs until now, I’m 24. I have seen about six in my apartment and freak out whenever I see one. I go for anything I can get my hands on to kill it. I should leave them alone so they can take care of our daddy long legs problem. Spiders I can handle, centipedes no thank you. I wish my cats would take care of them but they just play with them. At least they distract the bug long enough for me to get my shoe!

Hahahaha. I didn’t know they were called House Centipedes until a friend listened to my description of what I’d been calling a ‘Deadly Crickepede’.

I prefer spiders. These things freak me out, but I love your idea of a death match. Will keep in mind next time.

This post was truly entertaining. I have first hand experience with this centipedes in my basements and from time to time I pit them off with a spider or silverfish and find the centipede has always won. And because of that I always dump them outside. If they can do that to other insects, its only a matter of time before they get a taste of HUMAN BLOOD.. (O_O)

I googled house centipedes after one tormented me all night with it chasing me and me kicking it across the room, until I put it outside. I came across this article. I now hate myself for not looking for a praying mantis to put in the same glass as it.

i came across this blog by doing a search on house centipedes, they have been starting to come out again, its that time of year. i enjoyed your deathmatch post but wish u had taken some pics of it.

anyways, i hate these creepy crawlies. i have a cat and she will hunt them down and kill them. if you tolerate cats and hate these bugs then get a cat.

Just found one of these multiple-legged freakish creatures in my basement. I didn’t stick around to see its next move. But i found your post incredibly amusing. I however will not be playing with them, although I hope he eats all the spiders because those are even worse!

I just found this because I had seen a house centipede at a friend’s house over the weekend. I have been inspired by your deathmatch, and hope to replicate it with my own array of contenders as soon as we find another. I was trying to find info on centipedes because it turns out that I too have them in my apartment. I am 28 years old and never in my life have seen this bug until recently. I came across your post in my info searching and found it quite amusing! I just sprayed mine with Raid. It took an exceptionally long amount of time to die and was pretty messy to clean up.
